Increased Server Size?

I have noticed that the server is once again beginning to look a little crowded. I am wondering what your opinions are on increasing the size. The first time we did it, it effectively made the building area 4x bigger... if I did it again, it would be 4 times bigger than it is NOW! The dimensions have to stay as a power of 2 or else the grass won't grow. Don't ask me why.. something in the programming. It is currently 512x256x512. I would increase it to 1024x256x1024 (the 256 is the map height... I do not feel it needs to be any higher at the moment.) I believe the newest version of the map editor I use allows for a quick and easy server re-size.

I am considering backing up the map, increasing the size and then having a trial run to see how people handle it because I know it may cause some lag issues. Any opinions on this guys? I will not keep it at an increased size if it causes lots of problems for any of our regular users.

I think more room would be good i know i was looking for room yesterday and i found one emty spot there is not to many more. The bigger the better i say lol.

2 -> There IS still a massive amount of space that can be used... without deleting other peoples things and without resizing the map. We should start mining some of the surface out.
It is a long way down to the top of my lair and I think it might even look better if it wasn't all flat. If its going to load all those blocks they may as well be something we made instead of tons and tons and tons of stone and dirt. We could also have some neat underwater stuffs. :-D

I do believe that The map is fine at the moment. There is plenty of room. There are also some useless buildings that are just frames that in my opinion just take up room. There are a bunch of outlines done that i havnt seen any work done in a few weeks.

Well I believe BJzaba's problem was mostly that he was running it on a Mac and it has some issues. I never see him on anymore because I believe he OP's a few other servers. I will keep it at this size for awhile and see what happens.

I Think that it is fine the way it is at the moment too. We just need to 'open' up some of the surface and do things like build a meteor with lava and Adminium block. [Wich would look Awsomely cool!! in my opinion.] Also in some areas i do agree with people that we are running out of room. Like theres this one dude who built a useless ugly tower right by where my MB Block used to be [[I tore it down and now it has a red 'x' on it]] and it's ugly. Well thats my reasoning....

I want to fix the basement of GSF's tower (someone flooded my lair again - someone who could delete op stone) and hollow out the ground around it so the lake in that area goes almost all the way to the bottom and surrounds my lairs outside.

Please concentrate on destroying dirt or the grey stone of the ground before destroying anyones ugly or old creations.

I'm with the others, the server size seems good as is, but some of the buildings do need to be taken down, there are several that seem to just be "shells" where the outside is done, and nothing on the inside is completed.

I also believe that if we start building more in the sky, higher up, and under ground, deep, deep underground, we'll have lots more room, along with many, much more interesting creations.

A suggestion?

A large, underground, multi-floored, multi-roomed fortress with a cove for several boats and a throne room, but that's just an idea.

But the idea of building down sounds very reasonoble if the "top soil" is getting crowded.

WHERE IS MY GIANT ROBOT!?!

I have pitched that on the server many times but there has never been enough room if this server increase happens i will build it from top to bottom . Also this server needs moar awesome. As I have also said before

[[Clears throat]] Sorry...

It would definetly put a strain on my already struggling computer to increase it. There's only so much my laptop can handle!

Also I'm all for the removing some of the "buildings" if you can call them that.
